Many residents of Lawrenceville know just how contentious a divorce can be, especially when children are involved. This is proving to be the case for singer Seal and his soon-to-be-ex-wife, supermodel Heidi Klum. Although the divorce appeared to be amicable at first, things are now starting to get heated, especially the issue of child custody. Klum originally requested primary physical custody of the couple's four children, all of whom are under the age of 8. Seal is now arguing that he wants child custody to be shared equally between him and Klum.
A bone of contention for Klum is that Seal used photos of their children in an ad campaign without her permission. This has her upset, as she says she prefers to keep the lives of her children away from the spotlight and as private as possible. Klum hired a lawyer and the video was removed.
Georgia Child Custody Cases
There are four kinds of child custody that are potentially in play during most disputes: physical, legal, sole and joint. Physical custody means that the parent has the child living with him or her, while parents with legal custody have the right to make decisions about the child's upbringing. Joint custody allows both parents to equally share in the raising and decision-making of their children. In rare cases, sole custody is allowed if one parent is deemed unfit to care for the children.
Custody cases are often one of the most high-stress parts of any divorce, usually because both parents want as much parenting time as possible. As such, it is important to work with an experienced attorney who can help you protect your parental rights.
